A comedy about a permissive youth, a father and son who cannot communicate and a wide whose ex-fiancé is still around after twenty years of marriage.
Stifled by army life, the Colonel’s wife falls in love with the Sergeant sent to play the piano at her dinner parties. Towards the end of the play we realise that the Old Man and Old Woman on stage are their future selves.
The play depicts a grieving widow in Ancient Greece gradually finding the attractions of a young soldier outweighing her determination to join her husband in the underworld.
