The famous comedy of manners by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, premiered in 1777 and regularly performed ever since. 'Lud!!
Sheridan’s classic comedy of manners, ridicules affectation, pretentiousness and scandalous gossip in the London salons of the 18th century. Join Lady Sneerwell, Mrs Candour, Benjamin Backbite and the rakish villain Joseph Surface as the themes of concealment and exposure are explored. It is said that the cheers of the audience could be heard outside the theatre in the famous scene when a falling screen reveals a blushing Lady Teazle to her husband Sir Peter.
